Splog reporter

Over at Somewhat Frank, there’s news of an upgrade to Splog Reporter. It’s now a one-click process to report splogs. After verification, Splog Reporter makes this information available to search engines.

Splog Reporter was set up last month.

“The idea behind Splog Reporter is simple, but there is a great need for a monitoring process in the blogosphere,” said Frank Gruber, creator of Splog Reporter. “Splog Reporter functions like the a blog-community’s trash can, where good-willed bloggers can come together to combat the existence of splog. The response has been encouraging.”

We’ll see if it makes a difference to the splog I’ve just reported. See my post on splog spotting for more background.

22 September. The splog I reported two days ago has disappeared. All I see is a listing of the root directory. No WordPress. No splog. It’s still in Google’s index though. However, the seven sites that the splog linked to remain active. All have now (27 September) turned into WordPress-powered splogs (which are now indexed by Google including the new blog search). There are links to pages containing Google Adsense ads on the same domains. One of the splogs has now posted the same section of my work from April (update 3 October – it has now posted it again).

There are about 8-10 very vicious blogs i would like to have removed.
